This mid-thirteenth-century natural cultural monument may have fallen into ruin over the centuries, but today offers a valuable insight into the history of the castle and the region. The interior of the ruins have been transformed into a living, vibrant expression of medieval times and culture. The courtyard houses a modern day amphitheater complete with a stage and facilities for performers, a museum, and a souvenir shop. Do not be surprised to hear the sound of swords clashing as modern day knights recreate battle scenes in the castle grounds and be prepared to be enticed by the smell of roast chestnuts and other medieval delicacies as the delicious aromas float across the courtyard.
