The nearly 600 year old Blagaj Tekija Monastery is situated at the base of a cliff, next the the source of the river Buna. The serene, perfectly scenic monastery is a sight you won’t soon forget.
The monastery is located just outside of Mostar, Bosnia. The unique series of buildings were built for the Dervish cults and remain an important monument of the early Ottoman period. Blagaj Tekija Monastery was restored in 2012 to take on the authentic look it once had some 600 years ago. A few restaurants line the banks of the river, offering stunning views as you dine. If you’d like to visit the inside of Blagaj Tekija Monastery (also a museum), you must cover yourself and stay quiet to enjoy its serenity.
