Trek or board across these monumental dunes overlooking the wild Pacific.
The Concon Dunes formed some 25 million years ago thanks to some unique environmental conditions that couldn’t happen today. Sprawling for 52 acres just outside the beach resort town of Concón, this slice of prehistoric desert is popular for two reasons. First, a short (but at times tiring) trek across the sand not only puts you in the middle of an unusual landscape, but rewards your efforts with an amazing panoramic vista of the Pacific. You can head all the way down to the water - just remember you’ll also have to hike back up. For the more adventurous, the dunes are a great opportunity to try out sandboarding. If you want to hit the sandy slopes, you can rent a board across from the shopping center parking lot!
