Slovakia's largest open-air museum faithfully reconstructed a 19th century Slovak village to give an authentic taste of rural life.
Explore a recreated 19th-century village at this rural site in the Northern Slovakian. As the country’s largest open-air museum, the Museum of the Slovak Village contains 129 buildings selected from 113 villages that have been faithfully restored to create this reconstructed village settlement. Of the buildings on the site, 22 have been fully furnished and are open to pubic entry. Some of the most remarkable reconstructions include a yeoman homestead from 1748, an oil production facility, an inn dating back to 1811, and a wooden Roman-Catholic church from 1792. The museum is sure to entice visitors of all ages and backgrounds, as you stroll between timbered buildings, learning about dining etiquette and communal living traditions from Slovakia’s past. Visitors can obtain information books available in a variety of languages at the ticket desk to help them make the most of their visit.
