The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Comayagua, Honduras, is a historical gem that beautifully embodies the rich cultural and religious heritage of the region. Its elegant Baroque facade, with intricate Renaissance elements, invites visitors to step back in time. Inside, the cathedral features a Latin cross layout, with a grand main altar that showcases a stunning gilded wooden altarpiece. Among its most notable treasures is a crucifix crafted in 1620 by the renowned Spanish sculptor Francisco de Ocampo, gifted by King Philip II of Spain. The cathedral once housed 16 ornately carved altars, although today, only four remain, each adorned with fine woodwork and gold leaf. The cathedral is also home to the oldest functioning clock in the Americas.
