One of the most awe-inspiring views on earth, the Edge of the World in the northwest of Riyadh is a staggering rock formation that allows visitors to look out over a sweeping expanse of desert landscape. This wild and barren land should not be traversed without the guidance of a local tour group, as it can be easy to get lost and the difficult terrain is best accessible with a four-by-four in most places. Visitors should also be advised that in order to reach the viewpoint, some trekking is necessary, and it is important to pack the appropriate gear for the weather, comfortable hiking shoes, and plenty of water. The journey is more than worth it, as the views from the top of the staggering stone cliffs are unmatched. At sunrise and sunset, the sky melts into a panoramic gradient of color, warming the desert landscape below.
