Resava Cave

Unique mineral ornaments decorate the entrance to this prehistoric cave, welcoming visitors to explore its depths.

About

Inside this mysterious cave formed over 80 million years ago lie stunning natural ornaments, formed by layers of colorful mineral deposits over millions of years. This natural wonder is one of the oldest and most incredible caves in Serbia, and it features 800 meters of chambers that are open to the public. A number of canals and galleries wind their way through the cave and past the iconic red, white, and yellow ornaments, as well as past stalactites, stalagmites, staggering columns, and stone waterfalls. The cave is sometimes referred to as the doorway to the Ice Age, thanks to its phenomenally preserved structures and artifacts (including extinct animal remains.) Evidence of prehistoric human activity can even be found here, including a rudimentary fire place and stone hunting tools. There is a lot to explore here, and visitors can look forward to each new chamber boasting unique structures and natural beauty.
