Serbia
Stretch your legs after a long drive with a mini hike through the valleys of the Stara Planina mountain range.
Reveal Earth’s geological history layer by layer at Rosomača Canyon! Known locally as "Rosomački Lonci" (Rosomača Pots), this hollowed gorge has unusually shaped walls that create smooth, rounded basins of swirling water resembling cooking pots. It is part of the Stara Planina mountain range and has been dutifully carved away by streams for centuries. If you are observant, the canyon’s delicate limestone walls reveal the fossils of extinct ammonites. This narrow “canyon of pots” is 1640 feet long (500 m) and reaches a depth of 230 feet (70 m). Rosomača Canyon is a 20-minute-long hike from Slavinja village. The hike is relatively easy, making it accessible to most visitors. Despite being relatively unknown compared to more popular Serbian attractions, Rosomača Canyon is a fantastic destination for those looking to experience Serbia’s untamed natural landscapes.
