Visitors can walk the grounds of this medieval complex and explore 800-year-old artifacts.
Inside the walls of this eight-hundred-year-old monastery is the site at which the first Serbian King, Stefan Prvovenčani, was crowned. After this coronation, six more kings were crowned here - and evidence of this is still visible in the coat of arms displayed throughout the complex. Further inside the main church on the property, visitors can explore the chapels dedicated to Saint Sava and Archdeacon Stefan. The monastery complex is also home to an array of vivid frescoes dating from the Medieval ages, detailing religious stories and local folklore. The complex itself is even more impressive because of the incredible natural beauty that surrounds it. There are three major mountains around the monastery, along with a medieval city (Maglic), and the so-called valley of lilac. Visitors can look forward to incredible walks through the forested mountains after their tour of the monastery.
