SPAM Museum

Canned ham gets a bad wrap, but this fun museum might just show you why SPAM is an American icon.

The SPAM Museum opened in 1991 as the Hormel Foods First Century Museum to celebrate the meat companyโ€™s 100th birthday. But, as SPAM is by far the companyโ€™s most iconic product, they shifted focus and expanded, with the new, 14,000 square foot museum being focused almost entirely on the canned spiced ham (SPiced hAM, get it?). Inside, youโ€™ll learn about SPAMโ€™s history, including how it was a staple food for US troops during World War II. They also display different varieties of SPAM and recipes from around the world - great inspiration for SPAM lovers (and people who havenโ€™t tried canned ham yet!). And the friendly SPAMbassadors are on hand to answer any questions or lead you on a guided tour. Of course, thereโ€™s also a gift shop where you can stock up on SPAM and other Hormel products! Best of all, the SPAM Museum is completely free!
