About Seville
Most would agree that everything great about Spain can be found in Seville, so if there is one city you want to visit in Europe, it might be Seville. This city is on the left-hand side of the Guadalquivir River, north of the Atlantic Ocean and Southeast of Madrid.
It is home to extraordinary architecture that liberally litters the city and is found near palm tree-lined walkways, demonstrating the truly relaxed and laid-back atmosphere the city exudes. Alongside the beautiful architecture are numerous historical monuments that give you a glimpse into Spain's incredible past.
Although Madrid is Spain's financial capital, Seville is unquestionably its cultural center. The city's more than 700,000 residents will agree and tell you why it's a place steeped in rich cultural significance. Or you can just look at Seville's UNESCO-listed Cathedral, Alcazar, and Archivo de Indias.
One of the city's elements that showcases its incredible culture is its cuisine. Since Seville is near the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, it's a coastal town that often sees average summer temperatures of 89° F. This warm weather and its location on the coast allow Seville to grow, harvest, and fish some of the tastiest ingredients for its local meals. So those visiting should be sure to try the city's seafood, cured meats, and citrusy oranges that are bursting with a tangy sweetness you won't find elsewhere in the world.
Food aside, Seville also owes its vibrant cultural air to its after-dark activities. This city has some of the best tapas bars in the world, and the entertainment from street performers is unrivaled. No matter where one goes after the sun sets, they'll be encompassed by a thrilling nightlife that tantalizes, entrances, and entertains.
From Lagos to Seville: travel tips
The road from Lagos to Seville is 171 miles (240 km), and the trip usually takes just under three hours to complete via the A22 and A-49 by car. In only three short hours, you'll be ready to explore Seville and all it has to offer globetrotters. Yet, to ensure your experience is memorable for the right reasons, you might want to remember a few travel tips.
Stop on the way
There are countless hidden gems, attractions, and landmarks along the way between Lagos and Seville.
For example, with Daytrip, you can stop and sightsee Silves Castle, the beautiful whitewashed village of Alte, Huelva, Christopher Columbus' home base, and the ancient Roman Archaeological Ensemble of Italica.
Some of these places are difficult to access with public transport, but with Daytrip, an expert driver will navigate the roads and ensure you get to see what you set out to do.
Book attraction tickets in advance
You can visit Seville and many of the places along the way without any advanced planning and see and do much. Unfortunately, you might miss out on exploring some of the best places if you don't have a ticket.
That's why buying and booking tickets in advance is best to avoid a sold-out attraction. After all, there's nothing worse than traveling all the way from Lagos to Seville and being denied access.
Get tips from your driver
If you plan to travel from Lagos to Seville and use a private car service like Daytrip, why not ask your driver for local tips and insights? Since your driver is more than likely familiar with the areas you want to traverse, they can give you local insights into the best places to visit along the way and what to see, do, and avoid when you get to Seville!
How to get from Lagos to Seville
Getting from Lagos to Seville can be challenging, considering there aren't endless travel options between the two European cities.
However, that doesn't mean you're hopelessly limited. You can take a bus, or train, or use a private car transfer service like Daytrip. Have a look below to learn more about these options and determine which suits you best.
From Lagos to Seville by bus
Four coach lines operate trips from Lagos to Seville, each taking between four and a half and five hours to complete. BlaBlaCar bus offers the trip six times a week, and tickets cost between $31 and $35. Flixbus offers the trip twice daily; tickets range between $27 and $40.
Then there's ALSA, which offers the trip three times daily with tickets costing between $45 and $75. Another option is Rede Expressos, which offers trips three times daily with tickets only costing $18 to $28. Rede Expressos is the cheapest bus option and is a good choice for those on a budget.
From Lagos to Seville by train
If you want to take the train from Lagos to Seville, you should note that only one train line runs this route and doesn't go the entire way. You must take a bus transfer with ALSA to get the rest of the way.
The Comboios De Portugal has a train leaving the Lagos station every three hours, and the trip takes only twenty minutes to get to the Portimao station, with a ticket price between $5 and $7. From Portimao, there is one transfer and a one-and-a-half-hour stopover before you take the bus to Seville. The bus trip takes about four hours and 15 minutes with ALSA, and ticket prices are between $36 and $58.
Although you will get to see some of the beautiful scenery along the way, you won't get to stopover and visit any local attractions, and it can be a hassle to transfer from the train to the bus. So keep this in mind before booking a train ride.
From Lagos to Seville by private car
Overall, using a private car service like Daytrip is the best way to travel from Lagos to Seville. There are numerous benefits involving driving with Daytrip. For example, you can book when you want to be fetched from your accommodation to start your trip to Seville, and you can add sightseeing stops along the way. No other option lets you visit the Archaeological Ensemble of Italica or make a wine-break at Quinta da Tor.
Daytrip is also affordable at about $68 per seat, and you won't need to handle your luggage or fear for your safety since Daytrip hires professional drivers who know the roads. Not to mention, all cars are modern, well-maintained, and comfortable, and drivers are fluent in English, so they can give you a few travel tips!
From Lagos to Seville by flight
Sadly, flying is more hassle than it's worth if you need to travel from Lagos to Seville since there are no direct flights between these two cities. You will need to take the train and bus before you get to the airport, and the entire trip will take almost 10 hours and cost between $93 and $171.
For example, you would need to take the train from Lagos, which leaves every three hours. The trip is an hour and 45 minutes, with the train dropping you off in Faro. From Faro, you will then take the bus to Faro airport, which is a short 20-minute trip. Once at the airport, you'll travel from Faro to Seville, which is at best a 5-hour endeavor since there aren't direct flights. And that doesn't count the time needed for check-in, security, getting your luggage, or getting from Seville Airport to your accommodation.
As we said, it's long and tedious.
Things to do when you get to Seville
Who doesn't like a sunny city break when life gets too tedious and the travel itch strikes? If you're planning to drive from Lagos to Seville, you're in for an adventure of a lifetime.
This unique Spanish city has beautiful attractions, pleasant weather, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Regardless of whether you plan to stay for only a day or two to three, there's much to see and do, and since we want you to enjoy the best experience possible, we've shared a few of the best things to do when you get to Seville below:
Royal Alcázar of Seville
If you don't have much time in Seville but want the most bang for your buck, you must visit the Royal Alcázar of Seville. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the oldest palace in Europe that’s still in use, and, dare we say, the most beautiful?
This Moorish and Christian architecturally styled palace has a long-standing history that stretches back thousands of years. History enthusiasts (and those with an eye for beautiful things) will love exploring the palace and taking in detailed mosaics, peaceful waters, high ceilings, and serene gardens. And if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you might recognize the garden and intricately detailed rooms as exotic Dorne!
The Seville Cathedral
The Cathedral of Seville is another of the city’s trio of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From a Moorish mosque, it’s been repurposed, rebuilt, and redesigned into the world’s largest Gothic cathedral.
This can easily be a whole-day adventure since the entry tickets also include access to Giralda Tower, and other sites. The Giralda Tower will bring you 340 ft (104 m) above Seville for some incomparable panoramic views!
Museo de Bellas Artes
There are many museums in Seville worth visiting, but if you want to explore a little-known one, you must plan a trip to Museo de Bellas Artes. The Museo de Bellas Artes is a museum of fine art, and it can be found in the sixteenth-century Convento de la Merced.
It has high ceilings and elegant courtyards and is filled with extraordinary Spanish paintings and sculptures from the 15th-20th centuries. You'll get to feast your eyes on masterpieces by Velázquez, El Greco, and Murillo.
Alameda
Those looking for a break from attraction hopping who want to do a spot of shopping should visit Alameda. This hip, new alternative neighborhood is filled with funky vintage shops, off-beat cafes, odd bars, and quaint restaurants serving interesting cuisine.
After shopping and grabbing a bite to eat, you can look at the Alameda de Hercules found within the neighborhood. The Alameda de Hercules is a pair of ancient Roman columns that are worth a picture or two.
When is the best time to visit Seville?
There's no denying that lively Seville is a beautiful place to visit with its cerulean blue skies, quaint cobblestone streets, and year-round sunshine. This city is made for cycling, strolling, scootering, and exploring, especially if the exploring brings you to a tiled bar or hip restaurant where you can enjoy a bite to eat or sip on a delicious cocktail. But, before you get ahead of yourself, when is the best time to visit when traveling from Lagos to Seville?
Seville's inland location means it gets hot in the summer. We're talking an average of 96° F in July and August. Because of the heat, in our opinion, the best time to visit is during the late fall or early spring. Spring is the most festive time, but you should note that it might be pricey, and there could be many crowds, so look at other times of the year if you're on a budget.

Enjoyable trip with an excellent driver
“Our driver, Bruno, promptly picked us up at our hotel in Seville. He chatted with us throughout the trip, sharing information & engaging in a nice conversation. We were very comfortable in his car & upon our arrival in Lagos, he shared a bag of local oranges with us to enjoy. Would definitely recommend this services.”

Best Option for Stress Free Travel
“We used Daytrip from Seville to Lagos, and Lagos to Lisbon. Both drivers were great. Punctual, knowledgeable, friendly, and the vehicles were big, clean and comfortable. They even had WiFi. Door to door service on your schedule is so much easier than renting a car, or taking a train. No taxis needed (which is a challenge with 5 people), connecting trains, worry about getting lost or missing a train, parking, etc. We did not schedule any side trips, but still learned a great deal from our drivers. And we saved 4 hours per trip avoiding taxi/bus/train options available to us. Will definitely use again.”
“We initially thought we'd rent a car and drive from Sevilla Spain to Lagos Portugal to continue our extended trip but were shocked by the price of a one-way car rental. Looking at other options, we selected Daytrip and were very happy with the service. Our driver, Mauricio arrived 15 minutes early and even picked us up at our door - something the local taxi drivers wouldn't due to the narrow street. The ride was perfect and Mauricio was friendly and explained many things about Portugal drive. We took a stop a Huelva Spain and then continued on to Lagos where Mauricio delivered us to our apartment right on time. We'll certainly use Daytrip again if the opportunity arises in the future.”
Trip from Lagos to Seville, our first great experience

Nothing was a problem for Seni. Please pass on our thanks. Peter and Eileen”
Trip from Seville Spain to Lagos Portugal
“My wife and I used this service to get to Lagos from Seville. Much quicker than a bus and less hassle than a plane. The driver was first rate and spoke good English. The car was clean and comfortable for our trip. I would recommend highly.”
“The trip from Lagos to Seville was spectacular! Carlos was amazing and provided a safe trip for us! You definitely need to advertise your services more as I accidentally stumbled across your information. I would have definitely used you for transportation from Lisbon to Lagos instead of the bus if I new this service was available. Thank you for your five 🌟 service!”
“We were so nervous about booking this driver to take us from seville to Lagos. Nuno arrived early and took us on an amazing day tour. We stopped in Niebla to look at the castle, and our driver came in too. It was an excursion I would highly recommend. After our excursion Nuno found out my husband was a golfer. He made a special trip through Faro to show us many million dollar houses and golf courses. We had the best day and found a great way to travel. We were very impressed with the car, the driver and the overall experience. We will use this company again in the future.”
