Being at a higher elevation, Genting Highlands boasts pleasant weather year-round, with temperatures generally ranging from 77 °F to 50 °F (25 °C to 10 °C), with the coldest recorded temperature being 47.1°F (8.4°C). It’s the perfect place to refresh from the heat and humidity of Malaysia’s lowlands.

Beware of scammers

A sneakier scam targets your credit/debit card(s). Even in international hotels credit card magnetic strips have been duplicated. It’s recommended to avoid using card readers that appear a bit off and check your banking app regularly for any suspicious withdrawals or transactions. This is especially true since Malaysia uses a different currency, so you’ll need to withdraw or exchange once you cross the border.

Make sure the taxi uses the meter

Taxi drivers have the power to ignite your day trip or ruin it. Even though it’s illegal for taxi drivers to not use the meter, many will try to push that option. Make sure they’ll use the meter before you get into the car or transfer yourself to another taxi or a private car service like Daytrip.

Singapore to Genting Highlands by bus

The bus is the cheapest way to get from Singapore to Genting Highlands. Bus tickets cost between $9-29 and the trip takes 6 to 12 hours. While buses have amenities like air conditioning and bathrooms, being stuck in one for several hours isn't the best way to travel. You’ll be bound to follow bus schedules which may depart at inconvenient hours and involve transfers. Be aware you'll also need to get out and take your luggage across the border crossing.

Singapore to Genting Highlands by rental car

If you plan on doing some exploring, a rental car is the most flexible way to get from Singapore to Genting Highlands. The main hurdle is finding a rental car company that lets you cross the border and the additional fee that comes with that privilege. There are three main routes to Genting Highlands. The driving time ranges from five hours to six hours and 50 minutes. Keep in mind that there may be tolls and that you will definitely have to cross a border, so research the process in advance.

Interested in some light gambling? The only legal land-based casinos in Malaysia are in Genting Highlands! The two main casinos are Genting Casino and SkyCasino. From slots to roulette, blackjack, and baccarat, you'll find all your favorite games in Genting. And, if you don't have a favorite, it's a great place to dip your toes in the water. Go for a ride

Whether you're traveling as a family, or just want some solo fun, Genting's mountain top theme parks can easily keep you occupied for your entire visit. Enjoy the view from the rides, visit a snowy European village at SnowWorld, or go on wild adventures in Sky VR.

Party into the night

Singaporean nightlife brand Zouk has you covered for more mature entertainment. Dance into the night at the Empire Nightclub, have a delicious dinner at FUHU, or sing your favorite songs at karaoke. You'll find no shortage of things to do after the sun sets.

Explore the mountain

Along with Resorts World Genting, there are a few attractions a little lower down the mountain worth visiting. Stop by the Chin Swee Caves Temple for a peaceful stroll 4,600 feet above sea level protected by a Buddha statue known for summoning rain and subduing evil spirits.

Happy Bee Farm & Insect World is another interesting visit. This apiary and insect wonderland opens daily from 9 AM until 9 PM. Here, you'll learn about local honey production and taste a bit of their heavenly honey. The farm also has a “Butterfly Wonderland”' to study local species.

Enjoy the view

You’re going to be elevated, it’d be a shame not to take in the view properly. Head over to Genting Corners View Point for a breathtaking glimpse of the road you’ve traveled through. Save this for a clear day, when the fog disappears.
