Although it is a small town of around 33,000 inhabitants, Lagos has over 2000 years of history. Not only was the first slave market of Europe built here, but it was also home to several civilizations from Romans to Byzantines. Logas still preserves elements of its long history, and walking through its Old Town feels like an open-air museum. The city castle, known as Castelo dos Governadores, is one of the outstanding examples of Lagosâs history. It was built by the Moors in the 10th century and has now been turned into a museum. There are also several historic churches, some of which display Baroque architecture, such as the Church of Antonio. Trains are operated by Comboios de Portugal and depart from Lisbon's Entrecampos station five times daily for Tunes. Once you arrive in Tunes, you'll have to change to the train to Lagos, which departs every 3 hours during the day.
### Lisbon to Lagos by plane
It is possible to get from Lisbon to Lagos by plane, but it is questionable whether it is worthwhile or not. Lagos doesn't have an airport, so while the 45-minute flight from Lisbon to Faro sounds appealing, you then have to take a bus or private car from Faro to Lagos. Between the trouble and time getting to the airport, going through security, and changing to a bus that only runs five times a day, it's probably not worth it.

âi want to reassure solo travelers, which i am, that transfers with mydaytrip.com are completely safe, reliable and pleasant. during the past two weeks, i reserved two transfers with the company, from lisbon to belmonte and from lagos to the lisbon airport, and both drivers were polite, friendly, on-time and totally great people.
when looking for such a company, i couldn't find many reviews on this company for transfers in portugal, so it was important for me to notify everyone that this company should be an option, if trains and buses just won't reach the areas in which you are traveling. they will give you quotes, and then you can decide.
one thing that i do want to say, however. a few days before the transfer, you are provided with the driver's cell and first name and last initial. being a single woman, 65 yrs young, i wanted to know the driver's full official name and then i provided the info to a friend, just in case, since i had never used this company before. i would do it again, even though i feel very comfortable, now. but, you must ask, because the company told me that they must first get permission from the driver to share the full name and when i explained why, they did it. so, if you want more info, ask.
also, both cars were in beautiful shape and one even had wi-fi :O))
i will return to portugal early in 2019 and plan to reserve any transfers that i need, with this company. thank you so much.â
