You’ll travel along the SS163 highway to Sorrento, then onto the SS145 highway. About Naples

No one wants to feel like they’re going to miss their flight! If you are traveling to the NAP airport, give yourself plenty of time for possible delays, especially when traveling by bus or train. Airlines tend to suggest getting to the airport two hours before your flight but check the specific recommendations for your trip based on the time of year and possible airport construction. If you are traveling with children or a lot of luggage, account for this as well.

How to get from Praiano to Naples

Any public transit trip from Praiano to Naples requires transferring in Sorrento. Good thing Daytrip has two ways to travel directly back to Naples without having to change buses with your luggage! Choose a shuttle bus or private driver for the most direct route back to Naples.

Praiano to Naples by bus

The Sita bus company operates buses from Praiano to Sorrento, which take about 45 minutes. Tickets cannot be bought in advance, and a ticket does not guarantee a seat, so you may be standing. From Sorrento, you’ll change buses. If you are going directly to the NAP airport, take the Curreri Viaggi shuttle bus for $11 (10 euros) and you are required to buy a ticket ahead of time.

Praiano to Naples by train

Praiano doesn’t have a train station, but you can take a bus or taxi to Sorrento, and from Sorrento, you can take the train to Naples. For $3 (3 euros), you can take the Circumvesuviana train, which leaves every half hour during the summer. This leg of your journey takes one hour and 10 minutes, but the tickets can’t be bought in advance and they may sell out by the time you get to the train station.

For $8 (7 euros), you can take the slightly faster Campania Express, which has A/C, guaranteed seats, and spots for your luggage. It's worth the extra cost, especially because these tickets can be bought in advance.

Praiano to Naples by ferry

You can’t take a ferry straight from Praiano, but if you get to Sorrento by bus or taxi, you can take the ferry to Naples. The Alilauro Hydrofoil departs from the main port in Sorrento and for just $15 (13 euros), will get you to the Moro Beverello Pier in Naples. The schedule changes depending on the season, so check everything beforehand!

Things to do when you get to Naples

Naples is Italy’s third-largest city and always has something to do! After your drive from Praiano to Naples, go out on the town for these great activities:

Visit the National Archaeological Museum

If you didn’t get a chance to see Pompeii and Herculaneum, come to the National Archeological Museum for its large collection of artifacts from the Mt. Vesuvius eruption. You can also see Greco-Roman remains of civilizations, mosaics, sculptures, and even the Farnese Bull. If you are visiting in the summer, book your tickets ahead of time to save on waiting in line.

Go underground at Underground Naples

As one of the world’s oldest cities, Naples is built on its own remains. Head to the Naples underground to see thousands of years of artifacts in its many catacombs and tunnels. This cool getaway is perfect for hot summer days. The Catacombs of San Gennaro are particularly popular and worth the trip. Book your tickets ahead of time to ensure you’ll get a spot, especially in the summer.

Journey to the islands

If you haven’t had enough of the ocean yet, take one of Naples’ many ferries to the islands of Procida, Capri, and Ischia. Each island has its own unique draw and the ferries are frequent and fast! They are a short distance from the mainland, so you can still be back in time for dinner.

When is the best time to visit Naples

Naples is most popular during the summer. Between June and August, you’ll have the most options for entertainment and transportation, but it is more crowded and expensive. The sun can be quite intense, and the urban heat island effect means the city will feel warmer than on the shore.

For milder weather, cheaper accommodation, and smaller crowds, try to time your visit for spring or fall. If you plan on doing any hiking during your trip, it is best to visit during these shoulder seasons.

How long is the drive from Praiano to Naples?

If driving nonstop, expect your trip to take about 90 minutes. Any trip by mass transit will take at least 2 hours, if not more, due to having to transfer in Sorrento. If you are driving with a foreign license, make sure you have an international driver’s license translation.

Can I take a ferry to Naples from Praiano?

Yes and no! You can take a ferry from Sorrento to Naples, so first you will need to get to Sorrento. The Sita bus company has regular bus services from Praiano to Sorrento. Once you are in Sorrento, you can take the ferry for about 13 euros.

Does Praiano have a train station?

No, Praiano only has a bus station. The closest large train station is in Sorrento, and all Amalfi coast towns have buses that connect to Sorrento. Any train trip to Praiano will require you to get out in Sorrento and take a bus or taxi to your final destination.

How to get from Praiano to Naples?

You can travel by bus, train, ferry, private vehicle, or shuttle bus. The Praiano to Naples route has no direct services, except for Daytrip’s shuttle buses or private drivers. If traveling by train, bus, or ferry, you will need to transfer in Sorrento first.

“Vi var mycket nöjda med kvaliteten på den service vi fick från Day Trip. Vi hade två resor med Day Trip: den 31 augusti från Aten till Lefkada och den 7 september från Lefkada tillbaka till Aten. Båda resorna inkluderade stopp vid natursköna platser i Grekland. Båda förarna var utmärkta och tillmötesgående. Vi vill dock särskilt uppmärksamma Panos Peppas, som var vår förare från Lefkada till Aten. Prisvärd och säker transport

“Gonzalo från Daytrip var vår chaufför och han var helt fantastisk. Han gjorde allt för att hitta oss eftersom vår mobiltäckning var dålig. Han väntade tålmodigt i lobbyn tills vi kom, så att han kunde köra oss från Tulum Dreams Resort till vårt andra hotell i Cancún, en och en halv timme bort nära flygplatsen inför vår hemresa. Han var artig, respektfull och vänlig. Han såg till att vi hade det bekvämt under hela resan. Snabb och effektiv. “Marianna hämtade oss för att köra oss från Heraklion till Chania. Vädret var hemskt, och på grund av detta kom Marianna några minuter sent. Hon kontaktade mig för att meddela det. Marianna bor i Chania och gjorde resan väldigt intressant genom att berätta om lokala sevärdheter och saker att göra i Chania. Marianna är en säker förare och vi kände oss alla trygga med både hastigheten och hur bra hon körde i det kraftiga regnet. Hon är en underbar person och talar flytande engelska. Prívate transfer

“My partner and I organised (very last minute) a private transfer from Praiano to Naples after having the service recommended to us by my sister. The driver Nicola was great, very friendly, polite and was waiting outside our door at the exact time we’d arranged to leave our hotel! The drive to Rome was great, safe, we arrived at the expected time and Nicola was very helpful in explaining to us where to go and what to do. Overall, our experience with Daytrip was very pleasant and we would highly recommend their service! Thank you for making our last trip easy and comfortable! We’ll definitely use Daytrip again!”
