How to get from Praiano to Naples

Any public transit trip from Praiano to Naples requires transferring in Sorrento. Good thing Daytrip has two ways to travel directly back to Naples without having to change buses with your luggage! Choose a shuttle bus or private driver for the most direct route back to Naples.

Praiano to Naples by bus

The Sita bus company operates buses from Praiano to Sorrento, which take about 45 minutes. Tickets cannot be bought in advance, and a ticket does not guarantee a seat, so you may be standing. From Sorrento, you’ll change buses. If you are going directly to the NAP airport, take the Curreri Viaggi shuttle bus for $11 (10 euros) and you are required to buy a ticket ahead of time.

Praiano to Naples by train

Praiano doesn’t have a train station, but you can take a bus or taxi to Sorrento, and from Sorrento, you can take the train to Naples. For $3 (3 euros), you can take the Circumvesuviana train, which leaves every half hour during the summer. This leg of your journey takes one hour and 10 minutes, but the tickets can’t be bought in advance and they may sell out by the time you get to the train station.

For $8 (7 euros), you can take the slightly faster Campania Express, which has A/C, guaranteed seats, and spots for your luggage. It's worth the extra cost, especially because these tickets can be bought in advance.

Praiano to Naples by ferry

You can’t take a ferry straight from Praiano, but if you get to Sorrento by bus or taxi, you can take the ferry to Naples. The Alilauro Hydrofoil departs from the main port in Sorrento and for just $15 (13 euros), will get you to the Moro Beverello Pier in Naples. The schedule changes depending on the season, so check everything beforehand!

Things to do when you get to Naples

Naples is Italy’s third-largest city and always has something to do! After your drive from Praiano to Naples, go out on the town for these great activities:

Visit the National Archaeological Museum

If you didn’t get a chance to see Pompeii and Herculaneum, come to the National Archeological Museum for its large collection of artifacts from the Mt. Vesuvius eruption. You can also see Greco-Roman remains of civilizations, mosaics, sculptures, and even the Farnese Bull. If you are visiting in the summer, book your tickets ahead of time to save on waiting in line.

Go underground at Underground Naples

As one of the world’s oldest cities, Naples is built on its own remains. Head to the Naples underground to see thousands of years of artifacts in its many catacombs and tunnels. This cool getaway is perfect for hot summer days. The Catacombs of San Gennaro are particularly popular and worth the trip. Journey to the islands

If you haven’t had enough of the ocean yet, take one of Naples’ many ferries to the islands of Procida, Capri, and Ischia. Each island has its own unique draw and the ferries are frequent and fast! They are a short distance from the mainland, so you can still be back in time for dinner.

When is the best time to visit Naples

Naples is most popular during the summer. Between June and August, you’ll have the most options for entertainment and transportation, but it is more crowded and expensive. The sun can be quite intense, and the urban heat island effect means the city will feel warmer than on the shore.

For milder weather, cheaper accommodation, and smaller crowds, try to time your visit for spring or fall. If you plan on doing any hiking during your trip, it is best to visit during these shoulder seasons.

Yes and no! You can take a ferry from Sorrento to Naples, so first you will need to get to Sorrento. The Sita bus company has regular bus services from Praiano to Sorrento. Once you are in Sorrento, you can take the ferry for about 13 euros.

Does Praiano have a train station?

No, Praiano only has a bus station. The closest large train station is in Sorrento, and all Amalfi coast towns have buses that connect to Sorrento. Any train trip to Praiano will require you to get out in Sorrento and take a bus or taxi to your final destination.

Es war eine fantastische Reise.

“Wir waren äußerst zufrieden mit der Qualität des Services, den wir von Day Trip erhalten haben. Wir hatten zwei Fahrten mit Day Trip, am 31. August von Athen nach Lefkada und am 7. September von Lefkada zurück nach Athen. Beide Fahrten beinhalteten Stopps an landschaftlich reizvollen Orten in Griechenland. Beide Fahrer waren ausgezeichnet und entgegenkommend. Besonders möchten wir jedoch Panos Peppas hervorheben, der unser Fahrer von Lefkada nach Athen war. Panos war unglaublich nett und angenehm und bot herausragenden Kundenservice, der das Tragen unseres gesamten Gepäcks, die Bereitstellung von kaltem Wasser während der Fahrt, das Bereitstellen von Proteinriegeln, das Aushändigen von Informationsmaterial über den Korinthkanal (einen der landschaftlichen Stopps), das Nachschlagen und Weitergeben von Terminal- und Gate-Informationen für unseren Rückflug sowie das Bereitstellen eines Rezepts für Tzatziki umfasste.”

“Gonzalo von Daytrip war unser Fahrer und er war absolut großartig. Er hat alles gegeben, um uns zu finden, da unser Handysignal nicht besonders gut war. Geduldig wartete er in der Lobby auf unsere Ankunft, um uns vom Tulum Dreams Resort zu unserem anderen Hotel in Cancún zu bringen, eineinhalb Stunden entfernt, in der Nähe des Flughafens, vor unserem Heimflug. Er war höflich, respektvoll und freundlich. Er sorgte dafür, dass wir uns während der langen Fahrt wohl fühlten. Schnell und auf den Punkt. “Marianna holte uns ab, um uns von Heraklion nach Chania zu fahren. Das Wetter war schrecklich und deshalb kam Marianna ein paar Minuten zu spät. Sie kontaktierte mich, um mich darüber zu informieren. Marianna lebt in Chania und machte unsere Fahrt sehr interessant, indem sie uns über lokale Aktivitäten und Sehenswürdigkeiten in Chania erzählte. Marianna ist eine sichere Fahrerin und wir fühlten uns alle wohl mit ihrer Fahrweise und Geschwindigkeit, selbst bei starkem Regen. Sie ist eine sehr nette Person und spricht fließend Englisch. “Mein Partner und ich organisierten (sehr kurzfristig) einen privaten Transfer von Praiano nach Neapel, nachdem meine Schwester uns den Service empfohlen hatte. Der Fahrer Nicola war großartig, sehr freundlich, höflich und wartete genau zur vereinbarten Zeit vor unserer Hoteltür!
