Yes, swimming is the main activity at Cenote Oxman. A wooden platform and rope swing above the water offer a more active entry for those who want it, while gentler steps provide easier access. The water stays a constant cool temperature year-round. Bring a towel, change of clothes and biodegradable sunscreen, which should be applied at least 30 minutes before entering the water.
Cenote San Lorenzo Oxman sits about 100 miles (160 km) west of Cancun, on the outskirts of the colonial town of Valladolid. The drive takes roughly two hours each way, crossing the Yucatan Peninsula through small villages and dense jungle. Iglesia de Uayma is a brief detour from the main route, allowing both stops to be combined comfortably in a single day trip.
Cenote Oxman works well for families with children who can swim confidently, since the water is deep. Life jackets are typically available for rent on-site. Younger or non-swimming children can still enjoy the steps and shallow ledges with adult supervision. The on-site restaurant and bathroom facilities make longer family visits easy.
