Taking a bus and then a train can be a hassle and incredibly frustrating. Not to mention there are not too many trains daily and the trip can take four and a half hours with transfers. The trip can also be incredibly expensive, with the total price reaching upwards of $70.

Florence Baptistery

You can't visit Florence without touring its oldest building—the Florence Baptistery of St. John. This iconic octagonally structured building dates back to ancient Rome, but what's interesting is that its bronze doors are believed to be from the 16th century. Lorenzo Ghiberti sculpted them, so it's unsurprising that they are magnificent to look at and understand why Michelangelo dubbed them the 'Gates of Paradise.'

If you want to experience the city while enjoying the best weather, April to June are not overly hot, and you'll enjoy the peculiar flowers across the Tuscan countryside. However, if you want lower accommodation pricing, fewer crowds, and chillier (but not overly cold) weather, September and October are definitely worth considering.
