Portovenere is just a short distance from the Cinque Terre villages, making it a natural companion destination. Riomaggiore, the closest of the five villages, is reachable by boat in about 30 minutes during the summer season, or by road via La Spezia. Many visitors combine Portovenere with a Cinque Terre itinerary, as the two areas share the same stunning Ligurian coastline.
