""Marek arrived a little before 9.00am, greeted us cheerfully and loaded our bags, then waited patiently for us to check out. Once in the car, he gave us each a bottle of water, checked our hotel address in Bremen and confirmed the two stops we wanted to make on the way. As we drove, he told us a little about some of the things we saw in passing, which was interesting. Our first stop was Schloss Weesenstein and Marek made sure the car was secure, then came with us. I was very grateful for this, as I’d thought I’d have to wait by the castle while my husband and daughter went down to explore the gardens – my heart condition making the climb back up too much of a challenge. Having Marek with us meant I could go down into the gardens because he knew there was a little gate and a path that led out to the road where the car was parked. I was so pleased. He also checked if we wanted to use the toilets at the castle. The next stint was longer, but again Marek pointed out some features and answered our questions, so it didn’t feel too long. Arriving in Magdeburg, he parked the car in a carpark and made sure we knew what we wanted to see and which way to go. He said he would take a nap, as we were going to be there for an hour and a half. We thought this an excellent idea, as we knew we still had a way to go to get to Bremen. We enjoyed our time exploring Magdeburg and also had a bite to eat before easily finding our way back to the car. During the rest of the journey we were very pleased that we had a driver with local knowledge. Not only did he know where there was a public toilet on the way, but also he was able to make a detour when there was traffic congestion, and also later when an accident meant a traffic jam on the normal route. Towards the end of the trip it began to rain heavily and we were glad to have a driver who was familiar with the road. These things slowed us but he remained patient and continued to drive steadily, adjusting to the conditions. Arriving in Bremen just a bit later than anticipated, he dropped us and our bags off right by our hotel. He thanked us and we thanked him – profusely. The driving conditions had been trying for the latter part of the trip and had made it longer and we appreciated his safe driving and calm manner.""
