Overview: car trip from Seville to Valencia

Making your way from one of Spain's most popular destinations is no easy feat, considering Seville is home to picturesque landscapes and some of the most delicious tapas in the world. However, you won't soon forget a car trip with Daytrip from Seville to Valencia in Spain. Valencia is the birthplace of the beloved paella, a Spanish culinary staple that can compete with the tapas. This city has the ultimate paella and offers travelers a look into an effortlessly fused Roman-Arabic city with natural beauty, lively culture, and invigorating activity.

Yet, before you enjoy all that Valencia has to offer, you will find a few sightseeing locations along the way that are worth exploring. With Daytrip, you can venture to Córdoba, where you'll find an Ancient Roman bridge spanning the Guadalquivir River and Medina Azahra, the ruins of a fortified medieval palace city of yesteryear. You can also step foot in Granada and take a tour of the magnificent Alhambra Palace, which showcases stunning Islamic architecture, and walk through Granada Cathedral with its Renaissance facade.

Near Valencia, you can stop and explore Alicante and picnic on Postiguet Beach, which has golden sands and sparkling waters. You can also take time to tour Santa Barbara Castle, which offers visitors unforgettable views of the Mediterranean Sea. Regardless of where your travels take you, your professional English-speaking Daytrip driver is ready to advise you on the best stops to enjoy along the way and in the Valencia

About Valencia

If you were to mix the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Barcelona, the nonstop energy of Madrid, the friendliness of Seville, and a dash of laid-back comfort found in beach towns, you'd get Valencia. This city in Spain is unlike any other, and spending only a few hours in the city will reveal why with its incredible cultural, architectural, and historical landmarks. Valencia boasts significant landmarks such as the City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia Cathedral, and La Lonja de la Seda.

Valencia is also far more than just a culinary hotspot. While it is the home of delicious paella, it is also a place where legendary Spanish knight El Cid spent time. In recent years, the city has enjoyed a rejuvenating cultural renaissance that has gifted it a new edge in the travel space. Even those who have visited before find themselves wanting to visit again to enjoy the city's newness.

But this newness could only come about thanks to the city's immersive history and location. Found about halfway up Spain's Mediterranean coastline and surrounded by Europe's most fertile slab of land, the La Huerta, it was bound to be a city measured a cut above the rest in Spain and globally. Valencia has sustained civilizations for centuries thanks to its sea commerce and agricultural wealth. It has seen influences from the Moors, Romans, and Spanish, with each culture shaping its destiny and what it has become today.

Valencia has a population of more than 800,000 and is Spain's third-largest city. It attracts visitors seeking the thrill of the city's sophisticated culture, energy, shopping, and nightlife. The city has much to offer visitors, from architectural affluence and a culture-soaked city to an eclectic collection of bars and restaurants and over 40 impressive museums.

From Seville to Valencia: travel tips

If you're traveling from Seville to Valencia, there are a few travel tips you should keep in mind. We've shared the most important ones below to help you through your exciting journey!

Be wary of drinking the tap water

In most major cities, drinking tap water when traveling through Spain from Seville to Valencia is perfectly fine. However, if you plan on visiting any of the more rural areas during your trip, the sanitation quality isn't as good, so drinking tap water can lead to upset tummies and sickness. So, to negate this, play it safe by buying and drinking bottled water during your trip.

Tipping is welcome but not expected

In Spain, there is no universal rule about tipping. Usually, if you're happy with the service you receive at a cafe, bar, or restaurant, tipping up to 10% is common and acceptable. However, you won't likely offend if you don't leave a tip. Also, if you take taxis in the city, it's fine not to tip, but if you want to, you can round up the bill or leave loose change—it will be appreciated.

Know what things cost

Knowing what things cost in Spain before completing a trip from Seville to Valencia is important. Unlike other European destinations, Spain is considered relatively affordable. You should budget for a meal at an inexpensive restaurant costing around $9 to $14 (€8.30-€13), a hostel about $23 to $34 (€21-€31) a night per person, and a pint of local beer costing around $2.50 (€2.30). Public transportation within the city is usually affordable.

How to get from Seville to Valencia

Now that you're armed with a few travel tips, you're likely eager to learn how to get from Seville to Valencia. Since the distance between the two cities is about 413 miles (665 km), you can expect a relatively long travel time.

That's why finding a transportation option that will ensure your comfort and convenience is crucial. To help you with this, we've listed a few of the available options.

From Seville to Valencia by flight

The fastest way to get from Seville to Valencia is to fly with Ryanair, Vueling, or Iberia. These flight airlines often provide cost-effective fares with a ticket costing between $50 and $100 (€46-€92) per trip, depending on who you fly with and when.

In addition, flights leave Seville for Valencia every day, and direct flights are available. The downside is that you won't get to do any sightseeing along the way, and you will need to take a taxi or bus from the airport to get to Valencia, with no one helping with your luggage.

From Seville to Valencia by bus

Taking a Seville to Valencia transfer by bus is the cheapest way to get to Valencia, but it is, unfortunately, the longest and most uncomfortable transportation method.

Although a few bus lines offer trips from one city to the next, the most popular bus line is ALSA.

An average trip takes about 11 hours, which is not ideal for those who want to spend a day trip in the city, and a ticket costs between $32.50 and $65 (€30-€60).

Also, only a few buses offer trips from Seville to Valencia daily, and many are not direct, which means you could encounter multiple stopovers along the way, adding time to your travel schedule. So be sure to keep this in mind and look for direct trips when possible.

From Seville to Valencia by private car transfer service

A Seville to Valencia transfer with a private door-to-door car service like Daytrip is often one of the best ways to travel. With a private transfer, you can book when and from where you want to travel, and the driver will come to collect you at your hotel door.

Your English-speaking driver will also take care of your luggage and select the most time-efficient route. If you have time, you can also choose to stop and sightsee along the way.

Another benefit of booking with Daytrip is that the trip will only take about six hours and 10 minutes if you travel directly, and your driver will have no issue sharing travel insights while you relax in plush seating. You'll also not have to worry about your safety since Daytrip utilizes premium cars for trips and professional drivers who know the region.

Prices for a seat with Daytrip start at $200 (€185), but this is often worth it, considering your entire trip's transportation will be streamlined and enjoyable.

From Seville to Valencia by train

If you take a high-speed train from Seville to Valencia, you can cover the distance in about four hours, but if you take a regular train, the trip can take as long as eight hours.

If you want to book a high-speed or regular train, you can do so with Renfe, Spain's state-owned train operator. High-speed train tickets cost more than traditional train tickets. On average, a high-speed train ticket costs between $54 and $163 (€50-€150) for a one-way ticket, while a regular train ticket costs between $32.50 and $76 (€30-€70).

Also, booking in advance is crucial since only three to five trains run this route daily.

Things to do when you get to Valencia

As one of Spain's largest cities, Seville has much to see and do, but this can be daunting. That's why we've shared a few of the best things to do in this city when you decide to visit in the near future alone, with friends, or with loved ones.

Silk Exchange

You shouldn't visit Valencia without seeing one of its best-known landmarks, the Silk Exchange. This UNESCO-listed World Heritage site is a shining symbol of the city and a nod to its past.

The Silk Exchange, built between the 15th and 16th centuries, served as the hub for the city's silk and commodities trade. Besides its historical significance in the silk trade, the Silk Exchange showcases incredible Gothic architecture, which you can admire during your visit.

Valencia Central Market

One of Valencia's quintessential culinary destinations is the Valencia Central Market, which can be found in Valencia Old Town. This market was built in 1928 and is often celebrated for not only what can be found at the market – fresh produce, cheeses, meats, and trinkets – but also because of its Art Nouveau architecture. So why not consider spending a few hours at this market, which is one of Europe's largest covered markets since it houses hundreds of mouthwatering food stalls?

Valencia Cathedral

The Holy Grail, an object of Christian legend, is believed to be housed at Valencia Cathedral, which is why this religious landmark is a place you'll want to visit. If you visit to lay eyes on the chalice, be sure to also look around and admire the seamless blend of integrated Renaissance, Gothic, and Baroque architectural elements.

Turia Riverbed Gardens

The Turia Riverbed Gardens and Park stretch 6 miles (9 km) across central Valencia. This attraction is one of the biggest urban parks in Spain and is the perfect location for those who want to immerse themselves in nature during their stay. While visiting this 'green lung,' you can tour lush gardens, cycle, walk along one of the many trails, or admire the various fountains and other scenic features.

When is the best time to visit Valencia?

If you're traveling from Seville to Valencia, the best time to visit Valencia is during April, May, September, and October. These months offer travelers warm weather and fewer crowds, allowing for a superior travel experience. Expect temperatures around 76°F (24°C). These months also allow you to enjoy the region's beautiful Mediterranean climate and everything the city has to offer, with shops and attractions that remain open.

Unfortunately, many shops and attractions close in August, a time of year when the region experiences extreme heat (around 87°F/31°C). So, if you can avoid it, try not to plan a trip to the city during this month to avoid disappointment.

Daytrip
