Kanipakam Temple, also known as Sri Varasidhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple, stands as a revered abode of Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha) on the serene banks of the Baahuda River. The temple's name, 'Kanipakam,' derives from the Tamil words 'Kani' and 'Pakam,' signifying a wetland with a flow of water—the perfect setting for the divine idol of 'Swayambhu' Vinayaka discovered in the lake named 'Kalyani.' Rooted in Chola architecture, the temple boasts a simple yet elegant Gopuram, housing shrines for Sri Manikanteshwara and Sri Varadaraja Swamy alongside the main deity. With a rich history dating back to the 11th century during the Chola reign, the temple underwent significant renovations and expansions under the Vijayanagara Dynasty in the 13th century.
