Cervena Lhota

This enchanting from chateau is named for the vibrant red plaster that's covered its walls since the 16th Century.

About

It stands, blushing proudly, on a rocky outcrop in an artificial lake formed in the Fourteenth Century by the damming of a stream and the filling of a fishpond. A graceful former home and fortress of princes, it almost completely dominates its rocky base, and, despite being connected to the bank by a stone bridge, seems to elegantly float upon the placid lake waters. It's the ideal place for cooling hot touristic heels, perhaps by drifting in a hired boat on the lake or tiptoeing through the dense woods on the lake's southern side. The northern side is occupied by an attractive landscaped park that leads up to the Renaissance Chapel of The Holy Trinity, a delightful little sanctuary with an original wooden ceiling colored a symbolic heavenly blue. The interior of the chateau, with its opulent furnishings, provides a look at the heaven-on-earth enjoyed by its royal occupiers over the centuries.
