Manzanar

One of America's ten concentration camps, take this opportunity to learn about a shocking stain in US history.

About

Contrary to popular belief, Germany was not the only country that had concentration camps set up during the Second World War. What many people do not know is that the United States also had a shocking solution to what they called "the Japanese Problem”. Hundreds of thousands of Japanese-Americans were uprooted from their homes and sent to camps in the American wilderness. Manzanar is one of the most infamous. With approximately one hundred and fifty dead, this camp was inhospitable and not under ideal conditions. Today, since almost all of the structures were razed, they have preserved one of the residential blocks with replica towers and a demonstration of barrack life in the camp.
