Serlachius Museums

Admire fine art and world-class architecture at one of Finland’s most idyllic cultural destinations.

About

The Serlachius Museums roots trace back to the 19th century when industrialist, forrester, and art patron Gustaf Adolf Serlachius began his collection. His nephew, Gösta Serlachius, expanded the collection, transforming his own lakeside manor into the first part of the museum. A second building, an award-winning modern homage to the museum’s forestry roots, was added in 2014. Together, they showcase not just the progression of architecture, but a wide range of art, from the Finnish Golden Age to contemporary exhibitions, and masterpieces by the likes of Claude Monet, Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, and Camille Pissarro. After you’ve had your fill of art history, fill up on some excellent food at the onsite restaurant, or just get a quick snack at the Autere Cottage cafe for a picnic in the sculpture park.
