Winchester was Englandās capital before London. Itās got royal history, old legends, and some seriously good architecture.
Start at Winchester Cathedral. Itās long, quiet, and full of history. Youāll see Jane Austenās grave, some incredible medieval stonework, and stained glass that somehow made it through World War II. Then walk over to the Great Hall, itās the only part of Winchester Castle still standing. Inside, thereās the Round Table sitting big, bold, and painted with the names of King Arthurās knights. Believe the legend or donāt, itās still a striking thing to see. Take your time getting there. The streets in between are full of character. Old pubs, crooked timber buildings, and a mix of past centuries all in one place.
