This Renaissance castle is the perfect place to enjoy a fresh beer, or learn more on Karel Čapek, inventor of the word ‘robot’.
Built during the 16th century on the site of an older Gothic fortification, this noble estate was regularly redesigned to keep in line with the architectural styles of the time. Today’s neo-Gothic facade comes thanks to an overhaul in the 1850s. Just a few years earlier, the castle brewery was created, which resumed production in 2006 after a 74 year hiatus. The castle offers a plethora of attractions, including the scenic park, a tour of the furnished interiors, and exhibition on the world famous Karel Čapek, and a visit to the historic brewery, complete with tasting.
