The last of the Rozmberk family died in 1611, which meant the Eggenberg and, eventually, the Schwarzenberg family inherited the town. Cesky Krumlov continued its steady growth until Nazi Germany invaded the Czech Republic in March 1939. After its liberation, it became part of Czechoslovakia and fell under Soviet influence until its collapse in 1991 and the demise of Czechoslovakia in 1992.

“OMG! Wir hatten das große Los gezogen mit unserem Fahrer und Guide! Wir dachten, wir würden jemanden bekommen, der uns (zwei Paare mit viel Gepäck) von unserem Schiff nach Prag bringt. Was wir bekamen, war ein 10-Sterne-Service! Marian war unser fantastischer Fahrer und Guide – er hatte so viel über die Tschechische Republik zu erzählen, da er dort geboren und aufgewachsen ist. Aber es ging noch weiter. Wir machten einen Stopp in Český Krumlov, und auch hier wusste er so viel über das Dorf zu erzählen. Die besondere Betreuung war sehr geschätzt. Dann musste einer von uns in ein Krankenhaus in Prag, und wegen der Sprachbarriere arrangierte Marian den Termin und half uns durch die schwierige Zeit. Seine Gastfreundschaft werden wir nie vergessen. Es war viel mehr als erwartet! Ich werde sicherstellen, dass jeder, den wir kennen und der mit dem Auto durch Deutschland, Österreich oder die Tschechische Republik reist, nach Marian Reis fragt! “Wir nutzten den Service von München nach Prag, von Prag nach Český Krumlov und von Český Krumlov nach München. Marius war unser Fahrer für zwei der drei Fahrten und Michal für eine. Sie waren großartig. MyDaytrip gab uns vorab Fotos, Fahrzeugbeschreibungen und Kennzeichen. Das gab uns ein sicheres Gefühl. Tagesausflüge – sind sie notwendig?
“An meinem 4. vollen Tag in Prag buchte ich einen Tagesausflug nach Cesky Krumlov über Getyourguide. Der Hotelabholservice bringt Sie zu einem gemeinsamen Treffpunkt, an dem alle Tagesausflüge beginnen. Es gab Verwirrung darüber, welchen Bus man besteigen sollte, und wir starteten mit einer 20-minütigen Verspätung. Obwohl ich einen englischsprachigen Guide gewählt hatte, konnte die lokale Reiseleiterin Karolina nur mit starkem Akzent Englisch sprechen. Sie sprach während der 2,5-stündigen Fahrt nach Cesky fast ununterbrochen über die Details der Rosenberg-Familie, als würde sie aus einem Lehrbuch oder Wikipedia vorlesen. Das Ergebnis war, dass fast der ganze Bus schlief, sich nichts aus dem Monolog merkte und man oft nicht einmal ein Nickerchen machen konnte, weil die Worte so durcheinander waren. Wir kamen in Cesky an, und das Schloss, obwohl groß, kann wie die Prager Burg übersprungen werden. Die geschmückten Überreste von St. Reparat im Museum waren einzigartig. Die Stadt war überfüllt mit Touristen, aber die Aussicht vom Turm war ausgezeichnet. Es ist wie ein kleines Prag. Im Nachhinein hätte ich den Tag besser in Prag verbracht und mehr Sehenswürdigkeiten besichtigt.”
