Mount Thuy

This network of caves and temples in the Marble Mountains offers plenty to explore.

About

Mount Thuy, known locally as Thuy Son, is the largest and most famous of the five Marble Mountains, not to mention the only one open to visitors. Over the centuries, a number of Hindu and Buddhist sanctuaries were built into the mountain caves. Today, visitors can hike through the grounds, where lush greenery surrounds beautiful pagodas and quiet grotto-shrines. There are also plenty of reminders of Vietnam’s 20th century troubles, such as the bullet-holes pockmarking the Ong Chon gate, as well as memorial plaques. As there is a fair amount of walking required, decent footwear is strongly recommended.
