A repository of fascinating cultural and historical artifacts related to the Harju County region are kept in the Harju County Museum, attached to the famous Keila Manor. Established in 1988, its permanent exhibition “The Life in Harju” is a time capsule of archaeological findings from a medieval fortress in Keila and monastery in Padise, accompanied by art, photos, and a geological collection. A huge cauldron found in 2003 when the Padise monastery was excavated is held in the extensive Museum, along with torpedoes built for smuggling spirits. The museum also cooperates with local communities and holds educational events and programs for adults and children. Surrounded by the Keila-Joa Manor and Waterfall, it’s a stunning location to learn Estonian history and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11AM to 6PM.
