Peace and tranquility rule at this modern Benedectine monastery.
Monasterio Cristo Rey is a male Benedectine monastery and abbey founded in 1956 in the village of El Siambon, located almost 40 miles from the regional capital, San Miguel de Tucuman. Twelve monks live in a monastery built of stone and wood, leading a simple, honest life: they serve the religious needs of the nearby residents, do forestry and beekeeping, and make fruit compote and marmalade. On the abbey’s premises, the visitors will also find a small chapel and gardens while enjoying beautiful views of the valley. The abbey’s shop offers religious items, drinks and sweets the monks make. Every corner of this place emanates tranquility, and the abbey is a great place to recharge spiritually.
