Founded in the 12th century, this serene abbey is a massive medieval marvel, covering an astounding 4000 square meters, making it the largest Cistercian church in the world! In the 12th and 13th centuries, the abbey sheltered two exiled archbishops of Canterbury: Thomas Becket and Stephen Langton.
