Argentina
Melt into the nooks and crannies of this dramatic landscape.
Literally meaning "fires" in the local language, it's easy to see how the Acsibi Caves got their name. This unique geological formation of shaped sandstone has just about every share of red imaginable. The caves are just one part of the total Acsibi experience though - you'll hike through rusty canyons and past strange shapes of melted stone. Apart from the distinctive shape and color of the caves, they are also an important archeological site: once part of the Inca Road, ancient ceramics and rock art were found inside. To visit the caves, you’ll need to hire a licensed guide (do this before your visit - there are several operators, so search online and find one you like). The road doesn't go to the cave entrance, so be prepared for a bit of trekking, and if you're claustrophobic, some parts of the caves are quite narrow (you can still enjoy the amazing scenery outside though!).
