Mexico
They might not be Mexico’s largest waterfalls, but this stretch of rolling river is undeniably one of the most beautiful in the county.
The Agua Azul Waterfalls stretch for over a kilometer, showcasing tumbling cascades and pools of bright blue water. The high mineral content in this stretch of the Xanil River has encased the rocks and fallen trees in a thick coating of limestone over time, resulting in elegantly-curved formations. A path works its way along the river bank, treating visitors to beautiful views of the cascades and the dense jungle, culminating in a viewing platform that looks out over the entire stretch of the Agua Azul Waterfalls. Along the way, there are numerous small restaurants where you can stop to enjoy a bite to eat while taking in the view.
