This massive, marvellous mosque promotes peace and tolerance.
Opened in 2012, the Al Mina Mosque is a 4000 square metre pearl overlooking the Red Sea. The white facade is intricately ornamented with patterns and carvings that cover everything from its plaza to the tops of its 25 golden domes and towering minarets. The interior is even more richly ornamented with vibrantly colored Islamic motifs adorning the walls and ceilings. Along with providing a place to pray for up to 10,000 worshippers, the mosque also contains banquet halls, a Koranic memorization center, and a library. Al Mina Mosque was built as more than just a place for the faithful - it’s other goal is to introducing tourists to the tolerance of Islam and its morals, and to that end, there’s even a changing room where you can switch into appropriate dress.
