Just a short 20 minutes from Queensland, Arrowtown has an atmosphere reminiscent of a Wild West town. Known for its charm, rich heritage, and amazing surrounding scenery, you could easily spend the day here with the whole family. Visit the preserved Chinese settlements, which show the harsh conditions of the workers in what once was a thriving time for gold discovery. Then, sift for gold in the Arrow River (keep your eyes peeled, you just might find some!). One of the best ways to view the scenery is a bike ride on one of the many trails that surround the area. You can view the river and rolling hills of many colors, as this part of New Zealand experiences the best of all four seasons.
