Completely covered in colored glass, this stupendous historic temple is a place of wonder for folks of every creed.
Founded in 1922, the Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple is one of the oldest in Johor Bahru, but it wasn’t until 1991 that temple became the glistening masterpiece it is today. While riding a tuk-tuk, the temple’s owner came across a shrine of glass, which in turn inspired him to remake his humble historic temple. Using 300,000 pieces of multicolored glass and countless glass beads, the temple is filled with sparkling mosaics, including modern scenes of cross-faith charity, such as a Muslim and Christian helping a Hindu who got in a motorcycle accident. The temple is also filled, and covered with, a multitude of colored statues depicting Hindu deities, as well as Gautama Buddha and Mother Teresa. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed inside the temple. Please note: 10 USD entrance fee for the first visitor and 5 USD for subsequent visitors is not included. Be sure to check the temple's opening hours align with your visit.
