Balconies of Ghoufi

Built into the cliffs of a river canyon, the Balconies of Ghoufi look like the ruins of a lost city, but, in fact, were lived in up until the 1970s. Walk along the river under the shade of palm trees to the stone steps, which lead up the cliff face. As you climb, the houses transform from large stone complexes to troglodyte cave dwellings under the canyon rim. The whole time, you'll be treated to an amazing vista of the desert landscape with an almost miraculous belt of green.
