Watched over by the soaring Yemma Gouraya mountain, which was once the burial place of the patron saint of the city. Take a stroll through the old town, Bordj Moussa, browsing the shops offering olive oil, wine, and traditional Kabylian crafts before heading to the famous for Spanish fort. Built in the 16th century, this historic bastion now serves as a museum exhibiting Roman and Hafsid era artifacts, as well as a collection of birds and insects from all over Africa, and paintings by Maurice Boitel, on loan from the museum of Algiers. If you're lucky enough to be visiting in July, the city becomes even more lively with the Djoua Festival where traditional meals, concerts, crafts shops and many other activities showcasing the city’s culture
