Berlin

With a storied and tumultuous history, the German Capital has stood the test of time to become a global economic and cultural powerhouse.

About

One of Europe’s most infamous cities, for centuries Berlin has been a stronghold for Kingdoms, Republics, and Empires. This major player in the European Union was only reunified in 1990 and has been going from strength to strength ever since. Berlin’s history is commemorated and recognized throughout the city in its prominent landmarks that serve as a serious reminder of the events that impacted the world such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building, and remnants of the Berlin Wall. All around the city, however, it is clear that it has moved on from what it once was. Just to the south of these monuments is Potsdamer Platz, the heart of the city and cultural hub offering shops, restaurants, and cinemas. To the east is the iconic Berlin Tower and the unique Museum Island, a floating forum of arts and culture. And behind them is Berlin’s ‘green lung’, Tiergarten Park. Although this flowering park is adorned with monuments and memorials, like the Victory Column and the Kaiser-Wilhelm Church; here you will also find the House of World Cultures, Berlin Zoo, bustling cafés, a teahouse, and the beautiful Rhododendron Grove, an enchanting garden full of colorful flowers. Visit at Christmas to be enticed by Berlin’s magical Christmas markets, perfect for finding unique souvenirs and trying classic German foods alongside some spiced mulled wine underneath the sparkle of the Christmas lights.
