Bermagui Blue Pool

A swimming rockpool on the Sapphire Coast which refreshes itself every high tide.

About

There has always been a swimmnig hole here used by the residents of Bermagui, but it wasn't until 1936 that local philanthropist Bill Dickinson wanted to improve the natural facilities to make the Bermagui Blue Pool more accessible. After raising money both from the residents, government, and himself, his contractors reinforced the walls of the pool, made a separate children's paddling pool, and installed a series of concrete steps down to the pool itself. Today it’s regarded as one of the best swimming rock pools in the world and attracts people from up and down the coast. Around 50m long, deep enough to swim in but shallow enough to get nice and warm in the sun, it is a real boon for the locals to have on their doorstep. Bring some goggles as you’ll have great fun watching the fish who call Blue Pool their home. Toilets, a shower, and changing facilities are on hand.
