Billionth Barrel Monument

The Billionth Barrel Monument, erected in 1991 near the site of the first oil well discovered in Seria, was unveiled by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to mark the billionth barrel of oil produced in Seria. The monument features an elevated square platform adorned with five arches, symbolizing the Five Pillars of Islam, and topped with a gilded coat of arms. The architectural design incorporates Islamic-inspired floor tiles and was created by a local architect. Visitors to the monument can also appreciate a series of copper panels depicting scenes from Brunei's oil industry, offering insights into its rich history and significance.
