This private reserve protects the colorful flora and fauna that make up one of the world’s rarest ecosystems.
Biotopo del Quetzal reserve, covering 1,150 hectares of primary cloud forest, which has been owned by the same family for three generations. In order to protect this endangered ecosystem, the Biotopo del Quetzal works with rangers and locals to promote awareness and prevent illegal extraction of natural resources. If you’re lucky, you might even spot Guatemala’s national bird: the Resplendent Quetzal.
