BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center preserves 103 acres of bayou so that the residents of Baton Rouge can continue to enjoy this important ecosystem. At the entrance, you’re greeted by their award-winning, 9500-square-foot visitor’s center. Inside, you’ll find live native fauna, natural artifact and mineral displays, exhibits detailing the swamps wildlife, and a large collection of vintage waterfowl decoys. When you’re done, follow the gravel paths and boardwalks through the cypress-tupelo swamp, beech-magnolia, and hardwood forests to see a bounty of wildlife, ranging from migrating birds to turtles, opossums, and armadillos.
