From buried treasure to ghosts to witches, Bobolice is home to the darkest stories you’ve never heard.
Built in the 1300s, and destroyed during the Swedish Deluge in 1657, Boblice became home to not one, but two ghosts in that time. The Lady in White, is said to be the imprisoned niece of the then-owner’s representative. Then there’s the tale of the twin brothers – owners of castles Bobolice and Mirów, who connected their estates with a secret tunnel. According to legend, they hid a vast fortune in the tunnel, protected by a witch. Their relationship crumbled when one brought home a beautiful girl and locked her in the cellar out of jealousy. When he caught his twin with the girl, he murdered his brother, and entombed the girl in the castle dungeons. In the 19th century, a huge treasure was found in the cellars, supposedly part of the twin brothers’ hoard. The castle was left a ruin until restoration began in 1999.
