Established in 2010, the prestigious Faustino Group hired award winning architect Norman Foster to design their new winery. In 2011 the three-winged structure with its ingenious elements to aid in wine making was named the best design in Europe by the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2011.Sitting atop of a hill surrounded by vineyards, each wing of this state-of-the-art winery is dedicated to a different stage of the wine making process. The real magic happens below ground, in the 135,000 square feet cellar is distributed over three floors. Here, the star-shaped design branches to different areas of the production, fermentation and aging processes. A guided tour shows visitors the cutting edge of wine-production and culminates in a tasting of the wineries prestigious product.
