This captivating masterpiece crafted by renowned landscape designer Bevis Bawa beckons visitors into a world where nature and art intertwine.
Brief Garden, a lush haven nestled in Beruwala, is a testament to Bevis Bawa's love for the landscape and an enchanting showcase of his vibrant personality. In the late 1920s, Bevis was bequeathed a family rubber plantation, which would become the canvas for his extraordinary creation. This garden preluded the work of his celebrated architect brother, Geoffrey Bawa, who designed the iconic Lunuganga Estate. As Bevis toiled to transform the estate, it grew into a wild and verdant jewel, a lush jungle-esque paradise that stands as his living legacy. As you step into Brief Garden, you'll find plants cascading down the sides of the house, enveloping it in a verdant embrace. The garden's winding paths reveal hidden treasures like statues, carved faces, and a stoic horse, all nestled amid a tapestry of tropical flora. Beyond its enchanting greenery, you'll discover a private library housing Asian statues, paintings, photographs, and imaginative ornaments. The garden is open 9AM to 4PM daily.
