This giant banyan tree, considered sacred by locals, naturally grew a car-sized tunnel in its roots.
According to locals, Bunut Bolong is centuries old, and any who have tried to remove it or chop it down have met with an unfortunate end. The main road runs through the tree’s natural hollow, and either side is flanked with shrines wrapped with yellow and white cloths. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of driving through the region, a stop at the tree doesn’t just provide a great photo op - the nearby food stalls make it a great place to have some refreshments.
