Feel on top of the world at this diamond-shaped cliff with breathtaking views of the ocean and the southeastern coastline of Madeira
Step aside, Grand Canyon – Europe's got its own vertigo-inducing marvel! Cabo Girão is one of the highest cliffs on the continent, perched on Madeira's sunny southern coast. This hot-spot is a serious crowd-puller, and it's not hard to see why. Ever stood on a suspended glass platform, with nothing but clear space and jaw-dropping views below? Well, here's your chance. The panoramic views span the southeastern coastline, the endless ocean, and Praia Formosa beach. Trust us, you'll want to have your camera ready! Nestled beneath Cabo Girão, you'll spot the Fajãs de Cabo Girão - terraced fields that have been home to vineyards for generations, thanks to the perfect climate and location. Thrill-seekers, take note: this place isn't just about the views. If you're all about the adrenaline rush, Cabo Girão's got you covered with epic paragliding and base-jumping opportunities. Due to its popularity, we recommend getting there early to beat the crowds. Cabo Girão opens its doors daily from 8:30 am to 8 pm in summer, and until 7 pm in winter. Be aware, there might be a small admission fee depending on when you visit.
