Uganda
This friendly campground is building Uganda’s first artist community one sculpture at a time.
The Camp Ndegeya Sculpture Park was started in an effort to transform Ndegeya from an impoverished village into an artistic community - a rare thing in East Africa. The grassy hilltop is dotted with sculptures made by local artists in a range of styles - from metal cubist figures to stone monuments. Throughout the year they also host a number of art events, including the nationally recognized Fiestart in August. After taking in the artwork and panoramic views of the serene surroundings, you can stop by the camp restaurant for some traditional food. If you’re staying at the camp, they even open the kitchen to guests who’d like to cook for themselves!
