Cape Cross

The world’s largest seal colony is a writhing beach of breeding and battling animals.

About

Cape Cross on the Namib coast is home to up to 200,000 Cape fur seals - the largest grouping of seals on the planet. This huge population is supported by the bounty of fish that live in the rich waters off the coast. Watching as mothers care for their young, little ones flap about in the sand, and males battle for territory you feel like you’re a part of these animals lives. Just bring a handkerchief to cover your nose - the smell will take your breath away.
